A
third year camper Sophie really turned the corner in 2009. Not
only did she distinguish herself as a member of the Huron tribe but she
was a central character in her cabin and one of the core first session
personalities. Sophie committed to the camp community and was
entirely "in" to each of the challenges and activities presented to her.
Let's make no bones about it; Sophie was great! She was enthusiastic, funny, ready and willing to get involved in each program area, and a master alpinist to boot (a hiker). A handful of hikes was not enough for her mountain appetite but that's all she had time for. Sophie was a star on Morgan & Percival helping the group complete the roundtrip in under five hours.
In some ways she epitomizes what it means to be a Huron. No, I don't mean she has trouble coming up with new cheers but rather that she was passionate and loud during tribe activities contributing everything she had. She demonstrated a range of skills and put much in to what turned out to be two tribe contest wins in two years. There are unconfirmed rumors that she earned no less than three program beads this summer...Archery, Arts & Crafts, and Swimming but nobody can be found to confirm so. Send us a tip if you have any info. Well, all there is left to say is..."if they could only all be like Sophie."
