Now that we have moved to a new location, approximately an hour and a half northeast, we are fortunate to be able to initiate our Farm Program for the first time.  This Program Area falls under the purview of Husbandry, which relates to the management of our natural resources productively and in a sustainable manner, and remains a larger theme of the Hawkeye experience. Campers will get the experience of learning about and understanding the cultivation and harvest of plants and crops for our own use, on a small scale. Over the course of the summer different cabin groups will be responsible for different areas within our small on-camp farm. At the end of the summer and throughout the session perhaps the entire community will be fortunate to enjoy some of the various fruits of our productive labor.
