Erin Stermer
Hometown: Edina, Minnesota
Role at camp:General Counselor/Athletics/Lifeguard
Tribe Affiliation: Mohican
Cabin: Meadoview (Girls 13-15)
Summers at Hawkeye: 3
Description/Quote: Despite it being her first summer with us at Hawkeye Erin was undaunted by the challenge and quickly became a community favorite. Her talents stretch far and wide and included all sorts of camp songs. There is a rumor that the “Bunk One Song” actually comes from her previous work and that she might be the secret writer of Justin Beiber’s famous “Baby” song.

Garrett Colgan-Snyder
Hometown: Newton, Massachusetts
Role at camp: Director
Tribe Affiliation: None
Summers at Hawkeye: All of Them!
Quote: There is no better job in the world and no other place I'd rather be. Camp has done more for me than school, sports, or other extra curricular activities. There is so much to love.

Jason Roberts
Hometown: Northampton, England
Role at camp: Cabin Counselor/Athletics
Tribe Affiliation: Seneca
Cabin: La Mejor Cabina: Boys 14-15
Summers at Hawkeye: 7
Quote: A self-styled new-age rugby playing intellectual Mr. Roberts has provided tremendous passion for the community since his arrival in 2007. Having grown up as a camper and CiT at Hawkeye Jason tapped a new skill set in 2011 by joining the staff team. Ever since Jason is at his happiest down in athletics playing starfish-ball or in the cabin with the oldest boys.

Ashley “Mr. Iroquois” Ward
Hometown: Northampton, England
Role at camp: Brookside Lounge: Boys 12-13
Tribe Affiliation: Iroquois
Summers at Hawkeye: 7
Quote: A six-year community member we’re pretty sure that only rocks, certain trees, and Garrett have been at Hawkeye longer than Ashley. This can do guy was with the middle boys’ cabin, on the trails hiking, and in Arts & Crafts this summer. His pet peeves include a messy cabin and bouncy eggs. Expect to see more of Ashley around in 2014.

Mark “The Terminator” Colgan
Hometown: Longwood, Florida
Role at camp: Cabin Counselor/Archery
Cabin: La Mejor Cabina: Boys 14-15
Tribe Affiliation: Mohican
Summers at Hawkeye: 2
Quote: Coming up from Florida Mark didn’t know what to expect. He was used to swamps filled with snakes and alligators, 100 degree nights, and the constant threat of rain. What he got; a second home. The Terminator was a fixture on Hawkeye News, hilarious for dress up days, and without shame for CEA. Mark is 99.9% sure Hawkeye is in his plans for 2013…there was something about alien visitation and that other .01%.

Zak Allen
Hometown: Northampton, England
Tribe Affiliation: Huron
Role at camp: Junior Counselor - Maintenance/Kitchen
Cabin: Staff Cabin
Summers at Hawkeye: 5
Quote: Hi I’m Zak, also known as chicken legs/ Popeye...I enjoy being happy and creating positive atmospheres wherever I go! I play rugby and love staying "Dench" at the gym. This will be my 6th year at camp, one of the main reasons I keep coming back is because I can make new friends and get back in touch with old friends too. Cannot wait for summer 2014 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DeAnn Kelsey
Hometown: Roxbury, Massachusetts
Role at camp: Nurse
Tribe Affiliation: Iroquois
Summers at Hawkeye: 7
Quote: A fixture on the Leadership team DeAnn cares for the physical and emotional health of the entire community. Campers and staff go to her for bug-bites, sunburn, and also to get some “mom away from home time.” A school nurse in the off-season DeAnn’s three kids have all come to camp and her youngest continues to do so. We’d put DeAnn up against any camp nurse out there as she also teaches some nature and creative skills as well as helps to lead hikes throughout the summer.

Sandra Ashipala
Hometown: Wuhan, China
Cabin: Cabin Counselor/Arts & Crafts
Role at camp: Cailin Deas: Girls 13-16
Tribe Affiliation: Iroquois
Summers at Hawkeye: 1
Quote: It is rumored that Sandra can speak over 7 languages…that qualifies her as a polyglot right? All the way from Namibia via China Sandra joined our community this summer as a cabin counselor and as the Arts and Crafts counselor.

Jessica Colgan-Snyder
Hometown: Waltham, Massachusetts
Role at camp: Assistant Director
Tribe Affiliation: Huron
Summers at Hawkeye: All of Them!

Carlos believes Hawkeye is good luck because he has seen Spain win two championships in the World and Euro Cup while at camp the last couple years.

Quote: If we gave out an award for most energy Caileigh wouldn’t win the award…it would be named after her. Next year we’ll give out the first Byrne Prize in Camping! Unflagging energy, a positive outlook without rival, and a willing to get involved with whatever was on schedule for the cabin or tribe is the best description we can give for her.

Neil "Nee Nee" Preston
Hometown: Northampton, England
Role at camp: Cabin Counselor/Kitchen/Lifeguard
Tribe Affiliation: Huron
Cabin: Brookside Lounge: (Boys 12-13)
Summers at Hawkeye: 8
Quote: This staff all-star cannot be summed up in a few sentences. The inventor of Presto-Ball and one of the early practitioners of Bunk Ball Mr Preston has been making an impression on our community as a camper, CiT, JC, in the Kitchen, and now in the cabins. He’s only got three words of advice, other than the 10 Rules that he keeps for his Cabin Group; “Live Your Life!”

Ekta Gupta
Hometown: Buckinghamshire, England
Role at camp: Cabin Counselor / Drama
Tribe Affiliation: Seneca
Cabin: Meadowview (Girls 8-12)
Summers at Hawkeye: 2
Quote: One reason I love camp is it provides an environment for us to be creative – it’s like a musical. You can break into a dance or song whenever you like! Camp enables us to find something out about ourselves and each other. The amount of love and support you get at Hawkeye, you feel at home"

Nick Beatrice
Hometown: Newton, Massachusetts
Role at camp: Special Activities

Role at camp: Cabin Counselor/Woodworking/Lifeguard
Tribe Affiliation: Mohican
Cabin: Booger Hollow: Boys 8-11
Summers at Hawkeye: 2

Alex Roberts
Hometown: Northampton, England
Role at camp: Junior Counselor - Maintenance/Kitchen
Tribe Affiliation: Huron
Cabin:Staff Cabin
Summers at Hawkeye: 6
Quote: What can you say about Alex, a member of the crack Hawkeye News team, his creativity and range of dramatic personalities leads to much fun and laughter each morning. This guy can rap, play the piano, speak “street” and he’s got more than just one song.

Tae "The Quiet Man" Clark
Hometown: Clinton, Maryland
Role at camp: CIT Coordinator
Tribe Affiliation: Huron
Summers at Hawkeye: 5
Quote: As our CiT Coordinator Tae has found his niche. His CiT group from 2011 ranks with the all-time best. Tae expects great things out of the CiT's; inventions, symphonies, Nobel prizes, and trips to the moon. If you want to join the CiT group he will expect and nurture these possibilities in you too. He is also the nickname guy so if you come to camp without one get ready to get one.

Teresa Solley
Hometown: Newton, Massachusetts
Role at camp: Cabin Counselor/Arts & Crafts/Lifeguard
Tribe Affiliation: Huron
Cabin: Meadoview (Girls 8-12)
Summers at Hawkeye: 7
Quote: Four years as a camper, CiT, and now a counselor, Teresa "Huron to the Core" Solley is no stranger to the Hawkeye community. She brings a real understanding of what camp means to her cabin and the Meadowview girls have a great approach to every new day as a result.

Henry Charter
Hometown: Northampton, England
Role at camp: Junior Counselor - Maintenance/Kitchen
Tribe Affiliation: Mohican
Summers at Hawkeye: 2
Quote: Coming to camp I had no idea what to expect, and it was nothing like I imagined. Camp is such a unique experience, the activities you take part in and the friends you make will definitely be ones that you remember. But the only way for you to know what I'm talking about, is if you come and experience it for yourself.

William “Will” Bond
Hometown: Clinton, Maryland, USA
Role at camp: Cabin Counselor/Kitchen
Tribe Affiliation: Mohican
Cabin: Brookside Lounge: Boys 12-13/La Mejor Cabin: Boys 14-15
Summers at Hawkeye: 1
Quote: As a new member of the staff I didn’t know quite what to expect. I am an active guy who likes to play all sports so I knew I’d have fun being outside. I also like to cook and draw and I was so happy to be able to be in Arts & Crafts with my bunk. Iron Chef was my favorite activity; teaching campers how to cook some simple things and having fun while doing it.

Ariadne “Nani” Argyros
Hometown: West Roxbury, Massachusetts, USA
Role at camp: Junior Counselor - Kitchen
Tribe Affiliation: Seneca
Cabin: Staff Cabin
Summers at Hawkeye: 3
Quote: I've been coming to camp for 3 years now and it has been one of the best experiences in my life! You have the opportunity to be able to interact with all of the staff and every camper and everyone is so friendly and loves camp so much. For me there has been one thing that stands out above all; at Hawkeye you find something that you don't find elsewhere --community and a second family.

Karly Baterna
Hometown: Miami, Florida, USA
Role at camp: Junior Counselor - Kitchen
Tribe Affiliation: Seneca
Cabin: Staff Cabin
Summers at Hawkeye: 3
Quote:Our resident Dining Hall dance leader and camp song extraordinaire Karly is the energy-starter. One of the hardest workers at camp Karly is just as likely to be seen dancing around during lunch and teaching campers some new moves as she is actually eating her meal.
