Erin Stermer

Role at camp: Cabin Counselor / Boating Head / Lifeguard
Tribe Affiliation: Mohican
Cabin: Cailin Deas (Girls 13-15)
Summers at Hawkeye: 4
Description/Quote: Four summers at Hawkeye and Erin took on new challenges moving to Bunk 5 and heading up boating. Kayaks swarmed the lake, turtles dove for cover, and laughing children were heard echoing across the water. Driving to Boston, hiking the Ossipee Triple, or helping Mohican to victory in the tribe contest Erin's bright personality ranged far and wide over camp. (Can't you see it?!)

Garrett Colgan-Snyder
Hometown: Newton, Massachusetts
Role at camp: Director
Tribe Affiliation: None
Summers at Hawkeye: All of Them!
Quote: There is no better job in the world and no other place I'd rather be. Camp has done more for me than school, sports, or other extra curricular activities. There is so much to love.

Tulisa Reeves
Hometown: Providence, Rhode Island
Role at camp: Cabin Counselor / Archery
Tribe Affiliation: Seneca
Cabin: Cailin Deas: Girls 13-15

William “Billy” DeVore
Hometown: Braintree, Massachusetts
Role at camp: La Mejor Cabina: Boys 14-15
Tribe Affiliation: Iroquois
Summers at Hawkeye: 1
Quote: A new member to the community in 2014 Billy took to camp like a Seneca to Robin's Arrow. He could be seen roaming the grounds camouflaging it up, stalking frogs, teaching about trees.

Sophie "Twins" Becker
Hometown: Hingham, Massachusetts
Role at camp: JC - Kitchen / Maintenance
Tribe Affiliation: Huron
Cabin: Staff Cabin
Summers at Hawkeye: 8
Quote: Yes, in fact she is seen without her long lost twin at times around camp. Tied for the longest tenured camper Sophie will no longer share that title in 2015 as she has embarked on her Staff career. She has not yet declared a major but we have high hopes for this first round pick!

Quote: Hi I’m Zak, also known as chicken legs/ Popeye...I enjoy being happy and creating positive atmospheres wherever I go! I play rugby and love staying "Dench" at the gym. This will be my 6th year at camp, one of the main reasons I keep coming back is because I can make new friends and get back in touch with old friends too. Cannot wait for summer 2015!!!!!!!!!!! #thetribeisstrong

DeAnn Kelsey
Hometown: Roxbury, Massachusetts
Role at camp: Nurse
Tribe Affiliation: Iroquois
Summers at Hawkeye: 8
Quote: A fixture on the Leadership team DeAnn cares for the physical and emotional health of the entire community. Campers and staff go to her for bug-bites, sunburn, and also to get some “mom away from home time.” A school nurse in the off-season DeAnn’s three kids have all come to camp and her youngest continues to do so. We’d put DeAnn up against any camp nurse out there as she also teaches some nature and creative skills as well as helps to lead hikes throughout the summer.

Hometown: Wuhan, China
Role at camp: Cabin Counselor / Arts & Crafts
Tribe Affiliation: Iroquois
Cabin: Meadowview: Girls 8-12
Summers at Hawkeye: 2
Quote: It is rumored that Sandra can speak over 7 languages…that qualifies her as a polyglot right? All the way from Namibia via China Sandra joined our community last summer as a cabin counselor and as the lead in Arts and Crafts. She did so again bringing with her amazing new ideas and amazing new hair too...

Jessica Colgan-Snyder
Hometown: Waltham, Massachusetts
Role at camp: Assistant Director
Tribe Affiliation: Huron
Summers at Hawkeye: All of Them!
Quote: Come find her down at the Waterfront and she'll swim you out to Turtle Rock. Find her at the Expeditions Shed and she'll take you up Mt. Whiteface. But, if you come and try to find her eating our homemade bread she'll just take you out!

Quote: Another home grown staff member Carlos was our senior representative on the staff team from Spain. He acted as cabin counselor, interpreter, and soccer guru throughout and took over leadership of the Purple & Blue. Carlos believes Hawkeye is good luck because he has seen Spain win two championships in the World and Euro Cup while at camp the last couple years. #ignore2014

Tribe Affiliation: Iroquois
Summers at Hawkeye: 7
Quote: John first joined the community in 2007 as a camper. He has always had a huge personality and continues to make an impact on the community. His three favorite activities at camp are Bumppo, Tribe Eggs, and Cooking but no longer in that order. This summer Santi added fresh bread every day to the menu as well as many delicious meals.

Role at camp: Cabin Counselor / Athletics / Archery
Tribe Affiliation: Mohican
Cabin: Meadowview: Girls 8-12
Summers at Hawkeye: 4
Quote: If we gave out an award for most energy Caileigh wouldn’t win the award…it'd be named for her. In 2015 we’ll give out the first Byrne Prize in Camping! Unflagging energy, a positive outlook without rival, and a willing to get involved with whatever's scheduled for the cabin or tribe is the best description we can give for her.

Neil "Nee Nee" Preston

Role at camp: Cabin Counselor / JC Supervisor
Tribe Affiliation: Huron
Cabin: La Mejor Cabina: (Boys 14-15)

The inventor of Presto-Ball and one of the early practitioners of Bunk Ball Mr Preston has been making an impression on our community as a camper, CiT, JC, in the Kitchen, and now in the cabins. He’s only got three words of advice, other than the 10 Rules that he keeps for his Cabin Group; “Live Your Life!”
