Officially founded on October 31, 2005, what is now Camp Hawkeye has lived in the mind of a small group of people for the better part of eight years. What began as late night and Rest Hour conversations in 1999 has blossomed into a hugely successful and devoted community.  Our first summer was one of creation and discovery; new program areas, schedules, trips, games, activities, partnerships, friendships, and innumerable lasting memories.

• The counselors ended up with the Bumppo Stick and won Hawkeye's Hunt
• The Mohican Tribe were victorious in this year's tribal contest

     Our second summer, 2007, was one of amazing growth as our community ended up 200% larger.  With 90 campers and 33 staff members again from around the country and across the seas.  Some things remained the same though:

• The counselors ended with the Bumppo Stick and won Hawkeye's Hunt...AGAIN!
• The Mohican Tribe were victorious in this year's tribal contest

Again I want to thank each and every family for their trust in all of our staff and their belief in our program. You are all still pioneers and I hope that you feel you have enjoyed those benefits. The entire staff is very excited about next summer and know that we will grow as it suits us and our community will be stronger, happier, and more successful. I trust that you are all remembering this summer still and are thinking about next year. I won't bother to ask because I know that you will...
