STATEMENT ON GENDER
IDENTITY & PARTICIPATION

header6_edited_edited.jpg

Camp Hawkeye recognizes that gender identity exists on a spectrum and the Hawkeye Community welcomes people of all genders.  At Hawkeye we do have binary gendered sleeping areas.  We ask that everyone - campers, CiT's, JC's and staff - select a sleeping area that most closely matches their gender identity.  We further ask that everyone in the Hawkeye community respects the gender identity of each other.  This includes sleeping area selection, names, and pronouns.

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING:

camperslide_11.JPG

"Camp Hawkeye is my family. It has allowed me to be myself & not hold back anything with the fear of being judged. This community, in a way, saved me and introduced me to many cultures. It has sparked friendships with people from all over the world. The friendships & memories I've gained throughout the years will never be forgotten."

"The 4 weeks spent there went past way too quickly. Leaving on the last day was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. All the memories of everything are so special to me now...there are so many to pick from...sleepovers to campfires, to free swims...they're all amazing."

"While Camp Hawkeye only lasts a few weeks of the summer, the kids still talk about it every week for the rest of the year. Whether it is telling a story, recalling some hilarious event, or planning for next summer, they continue to talk about Hawkeye every week! It is so obvious the amazing impact camp has had on them simply by how much it continues to occupy their thoughts so many months later. What a wonderful experience for our children!"
