PRE-CAMP TRAINING
GETTING READY FOR THE SUMMER
Staff arrive at camp 10 days prior to the campers for Staff Training. Staff Training is made up of about 50% teambuilding and making connections, 50% getting used to camp life, and 50% learning the job. (Don't think too hard about the math).
Training is an amazing and fun time at camp that's all about building. Build relationships, building confidence, and building up to delivery of an amazing program for the kids. During this week, you'll develop ownership over the program and build your experience as a guide on the journey.
Staff training is instructional and hands-on. While building the basis of the summer's community, we'll delve into topics ranging from how we implement our mission to safety, policies, camp culture, childcare, behavior management, camper engagement, program delivery and much more. By the time campers arrive, you'll be ready to show them the ropes.
CERTIFICATIONS
BUILD YOUR SKILLS PORTFOLIO
Prior to the all-staff training dates, we offer certification schools in several areas, including Wilderness First Aid, Lifeguarding, First Aid/CPR/AED, Archery Instructor, and ServSafe. If you have an interest in becoming cetified in one or more of these areas, just let us know during your application process. There's no cost to you for completing the certification, and of course the skills are yours to keep and use in your professional work after camp!
